Best Practices and Code of Conduct
At JKMA (Own Your Journey), we are committed to creating a respectful, supportive, and transformative online learning environment. Our virtual classrooms are real spaces for personal growth, led by experienced teachers and grounded in mutual respect. To ensure the best experience for everyone, we’ve developed a Code of Conduct and Best Practices for engaging in our community. These guidelines help maintain healthy communication and allow students to receive the most value from their participation.
This policy applies to all live classes, community spaces, and interactions with instructors and fellow students. Any violation of this code may result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the community.
Code of Conduct and Best Practices
Respect Space and Boundaries
Focus on the teachings, not the teachers. Teachers are mirrors of your wisdom, and this space is about your growth. Appreciate the work while maintaining professional boundaries.
Try It On
Explore new ideas and concepts with an open mind. It’s okay not to resonate with everything shared.
Practice Deep Listening
When others are sharing, listen with an open heart and mind. Seek to understand, not to advise.
Step Forward/Step Back
If you tend to speak often, step back to create space for others. If you usually stay quiet, step forward and share.
Confidentiality
Respect the privacy of what’s shared in our space. Take the lessons with you but avoid identifying or sharing others’ personal experiences without their consent.
Mental Health Responsibility
Students must be in a stable mental and emotional state before engaging in our work. Our content is not a replacement for therapy or professional care. If needed, seek external support before joining our classes.
External Authority
Teachers at JKMA provide tools to help you discover your unique truth. Do not give your power away to external authority; instead, embrace self-guidance.
No Cyberbullying or Harassment
Discrimination, harassment, or threatening behavior will not be tolerated. Any form of cyberbullying will result in immediate removal.
No Recording or Sharing of Classes
Recording or sharing live or pre-recorded classes is strictly prohibited and will result in an instant ban.
Healthy Participation
Avoid over-engagement, spamming chats, or emotional dumping. Be intentional and thoughtful with your contributions.
Disciplinary Action
To maintain a safe and respectful environment, violations of this code may lead to probation or immediate removal from the community. Accounts created under false identities or emails will also be removed.
